The 2016 On Target for Life Coach Of the Year Award winner is Tom Patterson from Cadiz Kentucky. Below is an excerpt from his nomination illustrating the kind of impact he has made as a NASP® coach for his students. Coach Patterson was recognized at the 2016 NASP® National Awards Ceremony in Louisville KY on May 14, 2016.

Xổ số hóa ra là thừa Tian ShunHis nominators said, “Coach Tom Patterson has been involved with coaching NASP® archery since 2005. Tom has a passion for archery and truly connects at a “heart” level with the students. To say Tom has gone above and beyond in the lives of his NASP® students seems like an understatement. He has a deep compassion for not only assisting young people in the sport of archery, but also to become better people as a whole, more confident, more polite, more goal driven, higher self-awareness and higher expectations academically and socially. There have been numerous occasions where Tom has provided at his own expense, travel accommodations and equipment for students without the financial means to do so on their own. He even built a bow that would allow a boy the ability to shoot from a wheel chair. Tom consistently meets with students one-on-one to build their skill and confidence. He has attended conferences and trainings to better educate himself and develop skills that allow him to further assist students and struggling archers. Coach Patterson even went as far as learning to shoot left handed so that he could better assist left handed students. Tom is currently one of the official high school coaches at Trigg County, but he has also coached middle and elementary as well. I know there have been occasions when he has worked with students at all three team practices in one day. Sometimes I wonder if Coach Tom even has the ability to say “no” or “I don’t have time right now” to any student needing help with archery or any other difficulty they may face. Coach Patterson is well respected by the school faculty, coaches, and students as well as students and coaches from other schools. I know he spends a lot of time talking with other school coaches about how to improve their programs and coaching abilities. Coach Patterson is an excellent representative for his team as well as the entire NASP® program. He is the obvious selection for NASP® Coach of the Year.”

The National Archery in the Schools Program is proud to recognize Coach Tom Patterson as the OTFLA Coach of the Year! The Trigg County Arrowcats will receive a $500 NASP® Equipment Grant in his name.

When I was participating in NASP® I loved it. Some of my class mates would complain about having practice or waking up early on Saturday mornings for tournaments but I couldn’t get enough of it. In high school I participated in several activities but always made time to shoot because I loved it.
